Title: Generation of Design Data for Offset Fins in Compact Heat Exchangers for Aerospace Applications

My final year thesis to earn my degree involved generating of design data for offset fins. These fins are generally used in compact heat exchangers to increase the amount of heat expelled from a body. I focused on a combination of fins and working fluids that are specifically used in the aerospace industry.

I presented a paper based on this work at IHMTC 2021

2021 AIAA SciTech Conference

Title: Airfoil Optimization for RC Fixed-Wing Aircrafts

This project was an investigation into the shape optimization of airfoils for use in model aircrafts using artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms. I wrote the graphics processing engine for representing co-ordinates of the airfoils in Python. I implemented Lagrangian interpolation to generate the airfoil shape contour from the points that generallu represent an airfoil. I also cataloged different airfoils based on aerodynamic properties after running a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.

This was an oral presentation at the SciTech conference since we didn't have the computational resources at the time to take our calculations to it's logical end.

2019-20 AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition

The Design/Build/Fly (DBF) competition is the flagship aeromodelling competition organized by the American Institute of Aeronatics and Astronautics. I was part of my university's aeromodelling club, Team Aeolus. As a part of the Design and Analysis and Documentation teams I had input over the basic design philosophy of our entry model. I performed calculations pertaining to the sizing of the aircraft, it's thrust-to-weight ratio calculations, and specific mission and performance characteristics related calculations. I also wrote the design proposal and final report that we submitted to the competition.

We placed 2nd globally in the Design Proposal stage of the competition.

2019 ConQuizTador

ConQuizTador (ConQ) is a nation-wide high school quiz conducted by the Quotient Quiz Club of PES University. I was a core member of the organizing committee of the 2019 edition of the competition. My charge was to build up the database of the schools that we had to invite for the quiz across 17 cities.

I had a team of about 20 that aided me in my task. In 2019, we had the highest participation of any edition of ConQ.

2018-19 e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC)

The eYRC is a national level competition for engineering students organized by the Government of India in collaboration with IIT Bombay. The given goal of the competition changes year to year. My team was given the task to build a "mockingbird". This meant that we had to read a audio file, extract all the notes in the file sequentially, relay those notes to a bugle and piano and "play" the instruments.

I wrote the audio processing code and note extractor and identifier using the Fast Fourier Transform algorithm. The code worked reasonably well. I also worked on an alternate method to identify notes using neural nets on Tensorflow.

Natyashastra Picture Book

The Natyashastra is a Sanskrit work pertaining to the performing arts such as dance and drama. I worked on a book for the Rezorce Research Foundation that matched the dance poses along with the Sanskrit shloka and corresponding translation. The dance pictures were pictures of sculptures made in the pose.
